AU4DM
AU4DM (the Analysis Under Uncertainty for Decision Makers Network) is a community of researchers and professionals from policy, academia, and industry, who are seeking to develop a better understanding of decision-making to build capacity and improve the way decisions are made across diverse sectors and domains. In close collaboration, we have developed a series of tools related to uncertainty and communication which are available to download and use freely:
- Decision Support Tools for Complex Decisions Under Uncertainty
- Visualising Uncertainty: A Short Introduction.
- Communicating Climate Risk, A Toolkit
Decision Support Tools for Complex Decisions under Uncertainty was edited from contributions from many in the AU4DM network. It sets contexts for decision-making, particularly focusing on the types of uncertainties that decision-makers may encounter, describes the decision-making process, and provides various tools for the decision-making process, and relating them to the type of uncertainty faced.
Visualising Uncertainty: A Short Introduction is based on a review of literature on communicating uncertainty, with a particular focus on visualising uncertainty. It introduces a 12-step strategy for uncertainty visualisation and describes techniques of design thinking as well as classification schemes for visualisation techniques.
Communicating Climate Risk, A Toolkit is the 3rd catalogue in this series. It seeks to narrow the gap between climate science and climate action by providing insights, recommendations, and practical tools to support dialogue between scientists, decision-makers, and many diverse communities.
